Dear Closter Coach:

As we begin a new year, we’d like to reach out to you to thank you for your efforts on behalf of our children, and to tell you a little about our organization, the Closter Coaches Association, or CCA.

The CCA was established many years ago and reactivated in 1998 by a group of Closter coaches with a mission to “enrich the youth sports experience” of our town’s children. As such, the CCA is separate from the Closter Recreation Commission, and functions in a supportive role to this governing body.

The CCA raises money in a variety of ways, from sponsoring a late Summer golf outing to the sale of sponsorship fence signs and athletic sportswear at recreation sports registrations and through the CCA website. The funds raised by the CCA are used to support Closter youth sports programs in a number of ways:
  • Seasonal sports clinics in baseball, basketball, and soccer
  • Seasonal coaching clinics
  • Improvement of fields and facilities (fences, batting cages, pitching machines, etc.)
  • Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day CCA Family Picnics
The CCA membership meets on the second Thursday of each month to discuss fundraising efforts, administration of its programs, and to plan each sports season, as well as to discuss any pertinent issues related to the coaching ranks. Meetings are held at the Elks Lodge, at 148 Railroad Avenue, start at 8 pm, and last about an hour.

It is at these meetings that member coaches have the opportunity to suggest improvements in our programs or facilities, an important function of our organization. Any parent who has volunteered to coach in Closter Recreation is welcome to join the CCA. We encourage participation from as many Closter parents as possible. If you are not a CCA member and would like to join, please email CCA President Lou Iovino at ClosterCoachesAssociation@yahoo.com

If you are a current member of the CCA but DO NOT receive monthly email reminders of our meetings, we may not have correct contact information. If this is the case, please email us your name and email address so we can update our mailing list.

We are looking forward to another great sports year for our kids, and hope that you will join us in working toward a better athletic experience for the children of Closter. More information about the CCA, as well as meeting dates, current team schedules, and sports rules is always available on the CCA website: www.clostercoaches.com
